The Ray and Geotab ITS Partner to Launch Freight Electrification Clinic
The Ray has partnered with Geotab Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to launch a series of freight electrification clinics designed to help transportation agencies nationwide strategically plan for the future of commercial trucking. By utilizing aggregate data analysis, these clinics enable agencies to pinpoint the most effective locations and designs for high-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure.
This initiative addresses the critical need for data-backed planning in the mass electrification of America’s commercial fleet. With high-powered charging infrastructure often requiring power demands equivalent to that of a small town, precise placement is essential for successful grid implementation and high utilization rates.
“By collaborating with The Ray and leveraging best-in-class aggregate data from Geotab ITS, our goal is to support transportation agencies across the country to help ensure that infrastructure materializes at locations where its impact will resonate the most. ”
Strategic Benefits of the Freight Electrification Clinics:
Data-Driven Decisions: Leveraging insights from over 3.8 million connected vehicles via the Geotab ITS Altitude platform to map truck movement patterns and identify optimal fueling locations.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Planning: Helping agencies integrate medium and heavy-duty charging plans with existing NEVI deployments for a multi-modal approach.
Ecosystem Analysis: Providing expertise on additional energy needs, including right-of-way (ROW) solar installations and transmission infrastructure required to meet increased energy demand.
Future-Ready Infrastructure: Enabling agencies to build sustainable, efficient, and resilient fueling sites that support the long-term transition to electrified freight.
“The Ray and Geotab ITS are meeting the moment by working closely with transportation agencies across the nation to analyze truck travel trends within their jurisdictions. The clinics and resulting analysis informs investments in zero-carbon fueling stations, ensuring the highest utilization rates possible.”
Through this partnership, The Ray and Geotab ITS are providing the analytical tools necessary for transportation agencies to chart a clear, sustainable course for the large-scale deployment of electrified commercial fleets.
