Celebrating our 10th anniversary, The Ray reflects on a decade of transforming policy and ideas into real-world projects nationwide.
From enabling solar development along the Pennsylvania Turnpike right-of-way (ROW), a project that would not have advanced without our geospatial analysis and technical assistance, to piloting rubber-modified asphalt in Atlanta that makes roads safer, longer-lasting, and reduces the urban heat island effect, our work proves what is possible when innovation meets implementation.
We’ve leveraged natural capital along highways to support pollinator habitats, slope stabilization, and ecological resilience in multiple states. And through our national partnership with the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), The Ray has created the first and only GIS dataset of transportation ROW in the United States. This technology is already shaping ROW energy strategies, guiding utilities and DOTs towards implementation, and bringing previously inaccessible opportunities for grid resilience within reach. The Ray team is reshaping energy planning across the country, giving communities a clearer, faster route to deploying the projects our grid urgently needs.
