    By leveraging Abley's expertise in applying the Safe System Approach, The Ray can demonstrate how data-driven insights can lead to targeted improvements that make rural roads safer. This approach recognizes that humans make mistakes and are vulnerable, placing a shared responsibility on road designers, operators, and users to create a forgiving and resilient system. This collaboration is crucial for building a safer transportation network and reducing trauma caused by severe crashes on our roads.

    Building on our foundational work in road safety, our partnership is part of a larger, collaborative project that includes the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Esri. This initiative demonstrates how a best-practice Safe System Approach can be implemented in a rural county in Georgia. Through this work, we empower agencies to make informed decisions that not only reduce the frequency and severity of crashes but also strengthen all five elements of the Safe System to proactively eliminate serious injuries on the road network.
