ARIELLA KRISTOL FORSTEIN
"Managing Editor "

As a writer, editor and musician I put my self-expression to work daily and help others do the same. It is important that what I am paid to do feeds my soul. Being with The RAY for 2 years, and seeing its growth and its potential is one of the most exciting parts of this job. I am thrilled to interact with the RAY Community because everyone has a story to share and everyone is a writer in that essence. My soul is fed here.

My story:

It's real. It's now. It's here. It, being all that is, all that ever was, and all that ever will be. It is amazing to know this and feel it in my entire being. When I left a stable, full-time job to pursue my art fully, it was an exhilarating risk; one I am thrilled I took.

I grew up in a great home, and had an idea of what I wanted to be. My parents did everything they could to enable my dream to become a Cantor. When I changed my mind and said, “I want to go to the Peace Corps,” adjusting was tough for the people around me, but they eventually supported me. I did not actually follow through with that, because I got into another Fellowship that brought me to Los Angeles, the last place I thought I would ever live. On a summer night my first month here, I heard the little girl inside me exclaim, “I want to be a singer, and I want to SAY something!” I could not ignore her.

Since that revelation I have embraced and supported this little, amazing, beautiful child’s visions and dreams. Part of that was putting my journalism experience to work so I could spread positive messages farther than my word of mouth. I have worked as a professional Managing Editor for over 4 years, in addition to writing for numerous poetry publications and magazines.

I have auditioned, performed and created in numerous musical experiences, and am now on the path I always dreamed of traveling. To say it is challenging would be an understatement, but it is worth every ounce of the journey. I am living my dreams.

When I discovered the RAY by a random Internet search, and E-mailed Sierra asking if there were any job openings, the last thing I expected from her was a "yes, as a matter of fact, there are!”

It is amazing that when we simply want something and search for it without being too attached to the outcome, we find and acquire them.

When I am not reading intensely at The RAY, I'm a musician - world music songstress - living on LA's wonderful West Side. I strive in my endeavors to raise the human voice to educate, inspire and resonate with as many readers and listeners as possible. I love playful improvisation, deep intuitive human connection and a marvelous cup of tea.
